Region Command NCO

Region Command NCO

The Northeast Region (NER) is seeking Senior Member applicants who wish to apply for the position of Region Command NCO.  The Region Command NCO is the senior NCO Corp leader in the Northeast Region. The Command NCO is responsible for advising the Region Commander and staff on mission effectiveness, professional development, training, and utilization of the command’s NCO members and takes action to address shortfalls or challenges. The Command NCO will:

  • Participate in the decision making process, as appropriate, on technical, operational, and organizational issues.
  • Advise the Region Commander for dress and personal appearance items affecting CAP members and specifically NCOs.
  • Serve as a representative of the Region Commander when requested.
  • Participates on the CAP NCO Corps Committee.
  • Chairs the NCO Promotions Review Board
  • May serve on select Region committees as assigned.
  • Encourage recognition of deserving CAP NCO members during annual functions.
  • Encourage NCO mentorship of cadets and junior officer CAP members.
  • Encourage the recruitment of enlisted service members currently serving or retired from military service for CAP membership.
  • Mentor, advise and guide, the various Wing Command NCOs across the Region.

 CAP NCOs are the professional trainers, technicians, managers, planners, superintendents, and leaders that push to successfully complete the missions assigned.

Desired Requirements:

  • Currently hold the grade of Senior Master Sergeant or above or be eligible for such grade based on military NCO service as long as they have served in a CAP Senior Member position for more than 5 years.
  • The ability to travel to various functions throughout the Region as directed/needed. 
  • Be familiar with the Civil Air Patrol Constitution and Bylaws; CAPR 35-5.
  • Prior Wing Command NCO experience is desired.

Region Government Relations Adviser

Region Government Relations Adviser

The Northeast Region (NER) is seeking Senior Member applicants who wish to apply for the position of Region Government Relations Adviser (GRA).  As the NER/GRA, you will support, advise, guide and in some cases, mentor, the various Wing GRAs throughout the Region.  The Region GRA will be responsible for:

  • The dissemination of information from the National Government Relations Department to the Wing/GRAs.
  • Aid and guide the Wing/GRA’s when needed/requested.
  • Advise and inform the Region Commander and Chief of Staff on government relations matters.
  • Assist in the preparation for the annual Legislative Day events conducted in Washington, D.C. each winter.
  • Duties as assigned

Desired Requirements:

  • Knowledge of government relations.
  • Experience building relationships at various levels within organizations, especially governmental.
  • The ability to communicate with others across the region.
  • Be familiar with the Civil Air Patrol Constitution and Bylaws; CAPP 110-1, Federal Statutes Affecting Civil Air Patrol; and all other legislation affecting CAP at local and state levels.
  • Prior Wing/GRA experience is helpful.

Director of Cyber Programs

Northeast Region is currently seeking a Director of Cyber Programs

Function:      The Director of Cyber Programs (DCyP) is responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and monitoring cyber programs, cybersecurity training and cyber competition participation within the region.  This officer is also responsible for working with National Headquarters (NHQ) Cyber Programs Staff to assist in the development and implementation of cyber program initiatives throughout CAP.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support NHQ Cyber Programs Staff in the development and implementation of cyber program initiatives. 
  • Facilitate and monitor implementation of CAP Cyber Programs within the Region. 
  • Support the development and implementation of wing level cyber programs and activities through Wing Cyber Programs Officers, Aerospace Officers and Cadet Program Officers. 
  • In conjunction with Wing Cyber Program Officers, coordinate with CyberPatriot teams, coaches, and mentors within the Region to foster successful participation in the CyberPatriot competition.
  • Assemble, maintain, and provide access to CAP cyber programs, training and CyberPatriot resources and materials throughout the region. 
  • Build and maintain rosters of CAP members with Cybersecurity and Cyber Operations training, certifications and experience.
  • Assist Wings that lack an assigned Cyber Programs Officer.
  • Develop an annual Region Cyber Programs Plan of Action and Annual Report.
  • Identify solutions and responses to existing or emerging challenges and potential opportunities in the area of CAP Cyber Programs.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Region Commander and NHQ Cyber Programs Staff.

Desired requirements for position:.

  • Level III in the Professional Development Program.
  • Senior rating or higher in the Cadet Programs specialty track.
  • Senior rating or higher in one of the following specialty tracks: Operations, Information Technology, Aerospace Education, Administration.

 This position reports to the Northeast Region Chief of Staff
